The Bankers saw off Kenya Prisons three straight sets to one

KCB Women's Volleyball Club are the winner of the Heroes National Tournament that was staged at the Koitaleel Samoei University Grounds in Mosoriot, Nandi County on Sunday, 5 November.

The Bankers saw off Kenya Prisons three straight sets to one of (25-20, 23-25, 25-20, 25-17).

To reach the final stage, the Japheth Munala-coached side thrashed Post Bank 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-17) while Kenya Prisons defeated Nairobi Prisons 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-21) in the last four.

Speaking after the emphatic win, Munala who also coaches Malkia Strikers said that the tournament was a springboard as the new season kicked off on Thursday 2.

"It is a good start for us and it gives up hope that we will do better in the win, and as we approach the club championship, it has given us an opportunity to work on our weakness and strengthen our strongholds," Munala offered.

The event was also graced by World 800m champion Mary Moraa who was pleased that volleyball was finally taking shape in the Source of Champions.

Meanwhile, Malkia Strikers coach Munala has named his provincial squad ahead of the East Africa Community games set for Kigali, Rwanda from November 20-23.

Vintage player Mercy Moim has made the cut and will be joined by her teammates Juliana Namutira, Edith Wisah, and Belinda Barasa among others.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) president Charles Nyaberi rallied behind the Strikers, noting that they will continue dominating East Africa.

The fierce Strikers have dominated the East African community for the past 16 years.
